A common instance of this method is for a broker to create listing files using a word processing program like Microsoft Word. Paper documents like the signed listing agreement and any contracts can be scanned as PDFs and saved to the computer. More advanced computer users might create marketing pieces using Publisher or Power Point.

This method offers some key advantages over file cabinet storage. One is portability (assuming the broker uses a laptop). Another is document retrieval. It's easier to search and locate an electronic document than to sift through stacks of paper in file cabinets. Perhaps the best advantage over paper storage is the ability to electronically distribute listing information to prospective buyers.
